A Day in the Life of a Powerful Secretary - Part 1

Intro to Object Reports - Part 1

Users are strongly encouraged to bring a laptop if they want some hands on experience; however, the topic is relatively fast paced (in order to cover the topic as completely as possible) with the goal of having time at the end for Q&A and demonstrations.



Using Access with PowerSchool - ODBC

Description:  Connect directly to your PowerSchool database from Microsoft Access using ODBC. If you are familiar with relational databases and want to put that knowledge to use mining data in PowerSchool, then ODBC is your ticket to the data and Access can be your toolbox. In this session, we will discuss setting up an ODBC connection from Microsoft Windows to the PowerSchool Oracle database and demonstrate creation of data queries inside Access.

Tables and How They Relate To Each Other

Description: The first step to importing, exporting, creating reports and using DDE is to know where the data is kept. We will focus on the different PowerSchool tables, what data is in the table, how the tables relate to each other, which tables you will use the most, how to extract data from multiple tables, common table links, etc. We will discuss students, schedules, courses, teachers, stored grades, etc. Understanding these tables will help you find and extract the data you need.


Importing Test Scores

Description: Don't enter those ACT scores by hand -- import them! We'll begin with an overview of how PowerSchool stores information about tests. We'll talk about the unique nature of importing test scores and how to set up an import that will run right the first time. Finally, we'll consider some non-traditional uses of the student test features.



Make your data work for you... Troubleshooting thru data mining

Description: Troubleshooting through data mining. Troubleshooting requires a methodical approach that will point the PowerSchool Administrator to one of several remediation processes. Some may be as simple as having a staff member correct something in the portal while others may require data management by the Administrator or Pearson. How do you determine which process to follow? This session will lead the way by presenting a methodical approach using data mining principles. Attendees will have knowledge of DDE, match function, exporting to Excel and pivot tables.
